Crafted in Hoshino Village, Yame, Fukuoka, HOSHI NO TSUYU is a refined matcha for everyday usucha. It combines the savory depth associated with Yame matcha with restrained bitterness and a satisfying, lingering finish, making it an excellent choice for those who want an elevated bowl without reserving it only for special occasions.

  • Refined matcha for everyday usucha

  • Savory depth with restrained bitterness

  • A step above introductory drinking matcha

  • Crafted by Hoshino Seichaen in Yame

  • Stone-milled in Hoshino Village

  • Imported directly and shipped from Los Angeles

HOSHI NO TSUYU occupies an important place in Hoshino Seichaen’s matcha collection: refined enough to be appreciated on its own, yet approachable enough to become part of a regular tea ritual. Compared with YAME NO HANA, it offers greater depth and a more composed finish. It is especially well suited to drinkers who have moved beyond introductory matcha and want a more nuanced everyday usucha without stepping immediately into matcha intended for koicha.

We recommend preparing HOSHI NO TSUYU traditionally with water so that its savory character and gentle progression of flavor can be fully appreciated. While it may occasionally be enjoyed with a small amount of milk or sweetener, its subtleties are best expressed as usucha.

New to traditionally prepared matcha? YAME NO HANA offers a more approachable introduction to everyday usucha. For greater richness, lower astringency, and the option of preparing koicha, step up to SEIHO.

PROVENANCE YOU CAN TRUST

We believe that the quality of matcha cannot be understood through color, cultivar, or origin alone. It is also important to know how and where the tencha was cultivated and processed, who selected and finished the tea, who created the final blend, and where and how it was stone-milled.

Our matcha comes directly from Hoshino Seichaen in Hoshino Village, Yame, Fukuoka, with whom we have maintained a close and continuing relationship. Depending on the tea, a blend may include tencha grown by several of Hoshino Seichaen’s partner producers. The leaves are carefully evaluated, finished, and blended by the tea specialists at Hoshino Seichaen before being ground on the company’s own stone mills under controlled conditions.

This direct relationship allows us to verify the production process and facilities behind the matcha we offer—from the cultivation and processing of the tencha through final blending and milling. For us, traceability is not simply a region printed on a package. It is an ongoing relationship with the producer and a clear understanding of how each matcha is made.
